Bessie Mae FREENEY of Covington County, AL
I’ve been researching DNA connections to my BRADLEY cousins from my Great-Grandmothers, Katy and Rhody BRADLEY and came across some information that indicates there were FREENEYS in Covington County, Alabama with BRADLEYS.
It has been stated that the slave owned by Julien Sydney DEVEREUX chose their names after they were free, a theory I’ve always questioned. FREENEY is generational and I’m trying to locate it’s origin.
I’ve started looking into any possible relations to Bessie Mae FREENEY. She was a teacher and the daughter of Ebbie Benjamin Freeney and Anna Missouri Bradley . She was born 6 JUNE 1908 in Red Level, Covington, Alabama, and died 24 JUL 2008 in Red Level, Covington, Alabama.
She was married to Leonard Farrell.
