The Black Book :projects website v2!
Black lives matter, because Black stories Matter. While researching my African American genealogy, I’ve always had a hard time finding accurate and reliable information online, but an even bigger problem became counter productive but the most important to my research. I have too many DNA Test Company profiles and all of my inboxes are full of connection questions. Combine this with managing over 1000 people on Facebook, well Facebook.
So I decided to take matters into my own hands and create my own social network specifically for African American genealogy.
The Black Book :projects v2 located at blackbookprojects.org, is a website much like Facebook or Twitter that I created to make it easier for researchers to connect and share information about their family history, while making it easier for a team of volunteers that have been with me since I started my DNA research record and share of of the data and information we’ve discover through our research.
With the help of my team of DNA cousins and volunteers, we use it as a new tool for our research, but users are also encouraged to create Family Oral Recall Social Groups where they can discuss their family stories and potentially connect with others who have information that can help fill in the puzzle. The more readable text, the better chance the algorithms discover relationship patterns.
I’m in the process of teaching myself how to integrate ChatGPT, an AI tool that will allow site members to analyze and interpret crowdsourced DNA test results from African American home DNA testing kits in real-time, as well as discovering historical documents such as census records and slave manifests using AI.
If you’re interested in African American genealogy, I encourage you to visit blackbookprojects.org and join one of our social groups. We need your stories. Together, we can make it easier to uncover our family history and learn more about our ancestors.
Thanks for reading and I hope to see you on the site!
