What is the Black Book :projects?

My name is George Freeney Jr, and I started the Black Book Project on December 15, 2020. The main goal behind this endeavor was to share the valuable information I uncovered while researching my own family history. Simultaneously, I aimed to raise awareness about the rich histories, cultures, and communities of African Americans. The core of the project revolves around utilizing crowdsourced DNA test results to offer resources and education to the descendants of enslaved African Americans, empowering individuals and communities to explore and reconstruct their African American genealogy.

My vision for the Black Book Project centers on fostering racial harmony and equal opportunities by equipping people with the necessary tools to connect with their ancestral roots. Leveraging my expertise in photography and technology, I make efforts to increase public awareness through exhibitions and books. Through these mediums, I emphasize the significance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in every aspect of society.

To achieve these objectives, the Black Book Project provides an array of initiatives and educational resources. These include a social website, genetic genealogy, deep learning, AI technologies, and STEAM programs that educate individuals on the latest genealogy research techniques. Additionally, I collaborate with various organizations and universities to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the genealogy industry, ensuring that African American genealogy holds a significant place in the broader narrative.

Thanks to the efforts of the Black Book Project, thousands of individuals have successfully uncovered their African American genealogy. This achievement has not only instilled a renewed sense of pride and identity in these individuals but has also contributed to a greater understanding of African American history and culture. Furthermore, by shedding light on the systemic racial inequities experienced, my work aims to facilitate social change and progress.
