Ahmun DEVEREUX and George Edward FREENEY Jr. met through research that led george to Devereux, Hancock County, Georgia, where Ahmun's enslaved ancestors lived.
Ahmun's 2nd Great-granduncle, William J. DEVEREAUX was born in July of 1849 in Sparta, Georgia.
His father, Emmanuel DEVEREAUX Sr, was 39 and his mother, Mary Jane NASH, was 37. William also had 2 brothers named Emmanuel, Ahmun's 2nd Great-grandfather, aka. Manuel born in 1840, and Peter was born in 1824.
William J. DEVEREAUX married Mary Julia STEWART and they had 18 children together. He then married Emma BROWN and they had three children together. William J. DEVEREAUX died on December 18, 1929, in Sparta, Georgia, when he was 80 years old.
